CNN ran a story this week entitled: “Why Wakanda might be a model for our future cities.”
I’m not even joking. You can read it here.
Next week they will likely run a story explaining:
“Why Hogwarts should be a model for our future schools”.
And I can’t wait for …
“What Mordor will teach us about Canberra”.
Wakanda is the utopian city that featured in the Black Panther movies.
My friend from Atlantis says Wakanda is not real.
Shhhhhh … CNN don’t know that!
Anyway, I think the main learning from Wakanda is that we need to find massive deposits of a metal so rare that it is only found in comic books.
If we can get our hands on enough vibranium (which doesn’t exist) we will be able to build a utopian paradise that defies all sorts of scientific and physical laws.
I’m old enough to remember when everyone got angry at Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young for not understanding that Sea Patrol was just a TV show. But I digress.
If Wakanda is going to be a model for future cities, the learnings could be summarised like this:
Step One: Have access to magic space rocks
Step Two: Create urban utopia
Big if true!
Thanks CNN.
At least Hitler had Speer who used classical designs to make Berlin look pretty, but no mention of using Vibranium or materials that depart from the laws of Physics.
The Opera house was very groundbreaking and it almost failed to be finished due to the problems they had making it work.
I think Sarah Hanson-Young would vote for building the city once we find the elements required.
I remember when "War of the worlds" was broadcast lots of people were panicking madly.
Wakanda is real: it's called Liberia, and it is a hellhole.
