Asleep at the Wheel
The PM had no idea about the latest boat arrival because he was "travelling in a car"
Is Anthony Albanese Australia’s answer to Joe Biden?
This brief exchange between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and a journalist on Friday made me laugh.
Albo was asked …
“We’re hearing an asylum seeker boat has arrived off the West Australian coast line. Do you know anything about that?”
To which the PM replied …
“Ah, I’ve been travelling in the car, ah, so, I, I’m, I’m not, I haven’t been advised about that.”
Someone needs to advise Albanese that, even when the car is moving, you can still make and receive phone calls. That’s why it’s called a MOBILE phone!
So what gives?
Thirty blokes from Pakistan and Bangladesh don’t arrive undetected on the Australian coastline and then just wander into a local community without the PM being immediately advised.
But he couldn’t take a call because he was driving?
Was he in the world’s longest tunnel?
Is he with Optus?
Perhaps he was exercising his right to disconnect? Tony Burke would have been so proud.
The most likely explanation is that our very own Swiftie in the Lodge was on hold to Ticketek, trying to get concert seats.
Former Prime Ministers used to bat away asylum seeker questions by simply insisting that they would “not discuss sensitive operational matters".
Justified or not, people thought that was reasonable.
But to pull out the old "I was travelling in the car" excuse? That can only work when the media is completely on your side. How journalists didn’t burst into spontaneous laughter is beyond me.
If I were the Liberals I would immediately make the exchange part of an election advertising campaign.
“I was travelling in the car” is more deadly than “I don’t hold a hose”.
Everyone in Australia knows why Anthony Albanese couldn’t take a phone call while in the car. He was asleep at the wheel.
Disagree completely. The lifelong Marxist, Communist ,friend of Jeremy Corbyn, friend of People for Nuclear Disarmament and other similar organisations is very much awake at the wheel. Their policies of divide and conquer at very much in play. First ,The Voice , a miscalculation but Labor still keeping it in play, Next opportunity to split the nation, rising antisemitism., separating off the Jews from the rest of society, pretend to be concerned, but do minimal about it, a few words here and there. Introduce taxes on theoretical profits...try it out on Super, and say it will only affect the very rich. This separates the well to do from the rest and is really, in my opinion a prototype to see if it can be applied to larger segments of society who own assets, separating the aspirational from those depending on the government for enough to survive on
No money for the defence forces no assistance to allies when asked ( Red Sea ). Breaching of our borders...pretends to be Sargeant Shultz
Albanese, Wong and Gallagher the hard left triumvirate are very much in control of the wheel and guiding us into an abyss....
🤣 “The right to disconnect.” Burke would indeed be proud.
