An Almost Perfect Example of Corporate Virtue Signalling
BMW pick and choose where they support Pride Month
Luxury car manufacturer BMW has provided an almost perfect example of corporate virtue signalling.
The company has changed its famous logo to reflect rainbow colours for Pride Month.
But not in the Middle East.
When asked about the discrepancy, the company put out a statement saying …
“This is an established practice at the BMW Group, which also takes into consideration market-specific legal regulations and country-specific cultural aspects.”
So the company’s moral stance is dependent on market conditions?
It seems so.
The company will enthusiastically cheer on homosexuality in Western nations where it is permissible, while going quiet on their support for gays in the Middle East where it is punishable by death.
Whatever makes a buck, huh?
BMW is very careful to show support for gay rights in countries where gay rights already exist, while being very careful not to show support for gay rights anywhere that gay rights do not exist.
Which begs the question, what then is the point of their support for LGBTQ rights?
Please, for the love of God, don’t tell me they get Stonewall or ACON certificates for this!
BMW: “Happy Pride Month everyone!!”
The West: “Oh wow, thanks!”
The Middle East: “Wait. What did you say?”
BMW: “Never mind.”
It sounds more like shame, than pride.
If BMW actually believed in gay rights, they would only bother with the rainbow logo where it needed to be promoted, like in the Middle East. There’s no need to push gay rights here.
But, as it turns out, these great supporters of gay people are too afraid to support gays in the Middle East for fear it may antagonise those who oppress gays.
How very principled.
So stunning, and brave.
Maybe BMW would be better advised to drop the Pride flag altogether, and just sell cars.
BMW is largely controlled by the Qandt family, Stefan Qandt(29%) and Susanne Klattten nee Qandt 21%, the children of Herbert Qandt who was the son was Gunther Qandt an early, husband of Magda Goebbels, who kept up his Nazi connections and profited from enforced slave labor in his various industries, which like other Nazi supporting industrialists they could acquire from Jewish owners for a pittance. Because of very poor eyesight Herbert never served in armed forces but was involved in his fathers commercial affairs.
Herbert was alble to buy BMW (1960 for about US$10Million) and the rest is history. THe family has never disavowed its Naziu past. Good outline in a book called"Nazi Billonaires: The Dark Secrets of Germany's Wealthiest Dynasties by David deJong is an interesting read
With that family history anything is possible to turn a $$$
🎯 James!
To BMW & others; go fight the fight where it’s needed or shut-up & stick to what you do ie sell cars, fly planes, sell potato chips…
