As climate catastrophist terms go, this one is a doozy.
The BBC published an article yesterday headlined:
“How to Stay Safe in a Winter Bomb Cyclone”
What exactly is a winter bomb cyclone? Is it even a thing? It used to be called a blizzard.
Surely they are just putting random words together now.
Next they’ll be warning us about global heat death snow.
Officially, “bomb cyclone” is an unofficial term referring to a low-pressure system where the pressure drops by at least 24 millibars within 24 hours.
In other words, it's a storm that intensifies rapidly. Or a blizzard.
Winter Bomb Cyclone is waaaaay sexier.
But why they stopped there I don’t know. I’d have called it a Winter Thermonuclear Bomb Cataclysmic Cyclonic Doomsday Event. Or worse.
Over the past few years we’ve gone from global warming to climate change to climate crisis to climate emergency to climate chaos to climate armageddon.
More recently the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned that we are on a “highway to climate hell”.
He added, for good maximum effect, “with our foot still on the accelerator”.
So basically, we are AC/DC riding in a convertible driven by Thelma and Louise. It’s that serious.
Excellent! It's officially an unofficial term. How did we get so far with words?
It is an absolute oxymoron and all these phrases have done is terrify poor young people who have had it thumped into them from day 1 at school.
