How did the Prime Minister’s handling of the Voice go?
How about his handling of energy policy? Or cost of living? Or transparency in government?
Well this weekend Anthony Albanese is handling China.
God help us.
The PM isn’t very good at the difficult parts of government. You know - the economy, industrial relations, energy policy and the harder parts of foreign diplomacy.
He seems to struggle with complexity, and appears too lazy to be concerned with details.
Remember when he was asked if he had read in full the Uluru Statement from the Heart?
“Why would I do that?” he shrugged.
A former Howard Government cabinet minister recently told me …
“I sat in Parliament with Anthony Albanese for more than 20 years, and not once did it ever occur to me that he was leadership material. Not even once.”
Albanese boasted to journalists back in 2012 …
“I love fighting Torries. That’s what I do.
Policy is not Albo’s strong suit. Political sledging is more his forte.
But Parliament - which provides a platform for the political point scoring Albanese so loves - only sits for 20 weeks of the year.
All that’s left is international travel.
