ADF Lower the Number of Push Ups and Miss the Point
We can't celebrate every culture except our own, and then expect young people to lay down their lives for Australia
A week after we learned that Australia has enough ammunition to fight a war for just one week, we now learn that Australia doesn’t have anywhere near enough soldiers.
Latest ADF recruitment statistics show that we have a fighting force of 57,000, well short of the minimum 80,000 that military officials believe is necessary for the minimum defence of the country.
But there is no problem that cannot be solved by lowering our standards.
And so the ADF have decided to lower the bar when it comes to physical testing in order to encourage new recruits - as if the number of push ups, rather than eroded patriotism, is real the problem.
