Vaccine mandate remains for Victorian fire fighters

Unvaccinated firefighters still cannot work for Fire Rescue Victoria. I guess a fire really is nothing to be sneezed at.

Fire Rescue Commissioner Gavin Freeman last week confirmed its Covid-19 vaccine mandate would remain in place.

Laughably, he said fire fighters were required to have had at least three shots.

It’s laughable because most people who got the vaccine would have had their third shot well over a year ago which means it’s completely ineffective now.

If you’re going to keep the non-required mandate in place, at least insist your workers have had their fifth and sixth jab, with a seventh due around three months from now.

It’s also laughable because at the same time Fire Rescue Victoria are telling staff they must be vaccinated, the government is telling employers they must not keep records of staff vaccination status.

So how does any of this even work?

The Victorian State Government’s legislation on vaccine mandates expired on July 12, making the policy a matter for Fire Rescue Victoria.

Freeman didn’t explain exactly why it was necessary to be vaxxed in order to spray water on flames. He just insisted that it was.

This comes months after the World Health Organisation declared the pandemic was over.

The only pandemic in Victoria is pigheadedness.

Trust the science they insisted. And now they blatantly disregard the science.

The vaccine doesn’t stop you contracting Covid. The vaccine doesn’t stop you transmitting Covid. What’s more, Covid is little more than a few days sniffing and coughing for 99 per cent of people. What then is the science behind insisting vaccine mandates for fire fighters remain in place?

And yet Victorians hardly seem to care.

Caller: Help! My high rise apartment is on fire and i’m trapped.

000 Operator: Stay calm Karen, Fire Rescue Victoria are on their way.

Caller: Oh thank God. I fear my child and I will die if we are not rescued soon. Um, awkward question. Are the firemen all vaccinated?

000: Why’s that Karen?

Caller: I can’t risk being rescued from my burning apartment only to catch Covid.

000: Oh, of course. We don’t want to risk that either. I’ll have Fire Rescue Victoria return to the station immediately.

Caller: Thank you. I really appreciate you looking out for my welfare.

000: We’re all about people’s welfare in Victoria. Enjoy the fire.

Caller: We will. Thank you so much.

Vaccine mandates are not about science or about health. They are about punishing people who did not comply.

It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so insane.
