Elton John is still standing better than he ever did on Twitter, almost two years after announcing he has quitting the platform.
The iconic singer/songwriter advised his 1.1 million followers back in December 2022 that when it came to Twitter, this train don’t stop there any more …
All my life I’ve tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world. I’ve decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked.
I love how people announce on Twitter they are leaving Twitter.
Sad tweets say so much.
Wouldn’t it be easier to walk away? Walk away and don’t look back?
When Elon Musk took over the social media platform, Elton was all, like, “I don’t wanna go on with you like that”.
Honkey cat’s just can’t help themselves. He was un-making friends for all the world to see.
The music legend’s departure from Twitter - had he followed through on it - wouldn’t have been much of a loss. No-one ever hummed along to one of Elton’s tweets. (Or does Bernie Taupin write them?)
Elton was saddened by “misinformation” that he complained had flourished ever since rocket man Elon Musk decided to shine a light, shine a light, shine a light, won't you shine a light on Twitter’s cold heart fact checkers who were censoring people with whom they disagreed.
I can only imagine the kind of misinformation Elton was upset by …
There are only two genders. Drag queens aren’t appropriate role models for children. The Covid-19 vaccine didn’t stop the spread …
You know - ideas that spread heartache, heartache all over the world.
Being subjected to this runaway train of unfashionable truth was apparently all too much for Elton.
I guess that’s why they call it the blues.
He quit those days, and his redneck ways, and if Musk would only step back, oh, the change was gonna do him good.
The Rocket Man responded to the entertainer’s twitter tantrum by begging his favourite singer, “Don’t go breaking my heart”.
No one, least of all Musk, wanted to lose a follower like Sir Elton John.
Musk wasn’t racking his brain thinking, “I don’t have much money, but boy if I did …”
Musk isn’t short of cash. Instead, Elon tweeted Elton …
“I love your music. Hope you come back. Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?”
It might as well have been a word in Spanish.
Turns out $US44b can buy you Twitter, but even mamma can’t buy you love, at least not Elton’s.
Having complained about about misinformation, Elton failed to give even one example which, in my view, makes him too low for zero. He’s on a losing streak. Nothing seems to make much sense. It’s all just Greek to me.
The five time Grammy Award winner might have backed down, but sorry seems to be the hardest word. Instead, he just up and hit the yellow brick road.
In truth, Elton likely didn’t have a clue why he was leaving Twitter. It presumably just didn’t “feel” right and so he doesn’t wanna play this game no more.
Leaving a social media platform that he had probably never personally posted on - he has always had other people write his lyrics - is peak virtue signalling. So was no sacrifice, no sacrifice, no sacrifice at all.
I remember when rock was young, but I can’t remember Elton complaining before Musk took over about Twitter enabling terrorists like Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei to threaten Jews with destruction.
But as soon as regular people were allowed to say what they thought, Elton was all “goodbye Twitter feed, though I never tweeted at all …”
He has the moral authority of a candle in the wind.
The fact is that “misinformation” must be allowed in a free society. If it’s not, we are back to the good old days where central authorities decide what can and cannot be said.
I thought Elton loved Philadelphia Freedom.
He, like the rest of us, should be allowed to read what he wants and to make his own judgements about what is true and what is not.
But needless to say, almost two years after Elton John announced he was leaving Twitter, Elton John is still standing. The threats he made were meant to cut Musk down. And if Twitter was just a circus, he’d be a clown by now.
Should we really be surprised? His farewell tour began in 2018 and is still going.
He's still standing, yeah yeah yeah! I absolutely love your humor, just genius.

Bravo Mr Mac!!! Very clever! Well done!
I truly enjoyed that article. 👏
